New Hitman 2 Sniper Assassin Map Coming March 26th

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and IO Interactive today revealed a new Hitman 2 trailer for the upcoming Hantu Port Sniper Assassin Map, all-new DLC arriving on March 26th. The latest map for Sniper Assassin mode, a standalone co-op experience within Hitman 2, transports players to a container yard set on the island of Singapore where Han Ldong and his wife have been kidnapped by a group of highly skilled criminals known as the Heavenly Guard. Players can take on the solo role of Agent 47 or complete the contract via online co-op as one of two operatives, Stone and Knight, to take out various targets before they transfer their hostages to a nearby cargo ship.

Sega Releases New Behind-the-Scenes Music Video for Team Sonic Racing

Today, Sega dropped a new behind-the-scenes video showcasing the music production behind Team Sonic Racing, featuring Japanese electronic music artist Toriena and Sonic Team Sound Director, Jun Senoue. In the video, the artists collaborate on remixed version of the song “Bingo Party” from the 2003 game Sonic Heroes, bringing forth their signature sounds to match the game’s casino-themed map.

Team Sonic Racing is set to release on May 21st on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam.

Play the Mortal Kombat 11 Closed Beta on March 27th

The Mortal Kombat 11 closed beta begins next week on March 27th at 8 a.m. PDT in North America and will run through Sunday, March 31st at 11:59 p.m. PDT. All players who pre-order Mortal Kombat 11 on PlayStation 4 or Xbox One at select retailers will receive access to the closed beta, which features five different characters, each with unique abilities and Fatalities, including fan-favorite fighters Baraka, Jade, Kabal, Scarlet and Scorpion.

Players participating in the closed beta will experience a preview of the all-new Custom Character Variation System, which will offer nearly infinite customization options to personalize fighters with a variety Skins, Gear, Special Abilities, Intro and Victory Cinemas, Taunts and Brutalities. Gameplay modes offered in the close beta will include online multiplayer matches, along with Towers of Time, a single-player mode where players can test their skills through various challenges, providing more ways than ever to continue the Mortal Kombat 11 experience.

Mortal Kombat 11 will be available beginning April 23rd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Square Enix Takes Players Inside The Final Fantasy Series

Square Enix today unveiled an in-depth look at Final Fantasy IX. The featurette, titled “Inside Final Fantasy IX,” takes a look at some of the secrets and anecdotes from the development of the game, featuring interviews with:

  • Shinji Hashimoto (Producer)
  • Toshiyuki Itahana (Artist)
  • Kazuhiko Aoki (Event Designer)
  • Nobuaki Komoto (Event Planner)

The first in an ongoing series of developer featurettes, “Inside Final Fantasy” takes viewers on a deep dive into the legacy of the series bringing together interviews with a variety of original creators, artists and developers.

God of War Wins Game of the Year Award at the 19th Annual GDC Awards

Sony Santa Monica and Sony Interactive Entertainment’s reimagining of the action/adventure series, God of War, was honored with the prize for Game of the Year at last night’s 19th annual Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony during the 2019 Game Developers Conference at the Moscone Convention Center in San Francisco.

The exploration of young love, Florence, earned developer Mountains two awards, for Best Debut and Best Mobile Game. Developer Beat Games also took home two awards for its VR rhythm game Beat Saber, for Best VR/AR Game and the Audience Award.

The full slate of winners of the 2019 GDCAs also includes Best Technology winner Red Dead Redemption 2 by Rockstar Games. Lucas Pope’s 3909 won Best Narrative for Return of the Obra Dinn. 2018 IGF Award winner, Celeste, by developer Matt Makes Games, returned to the awards podium with their win for Best Audio. The platform-adventure game, Gris by Nomada Studio, earned the award for Best Visuals. The Award for Best Design went to Into the Breach developed by Subset Games, and Nintendo’s Labo won the Innovation Award.

New Mortal Kombat 11 Trailer Reveals Kotal Kahn as Latest Playable Character

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios today released a new Mortal Kombat 11 gameplay trailer featuring character, Kotal Kahn.

Kotal Kahn is an Osh-Tekk warrior and Emperor of Outworld. Years ago, Kotal saved the Empire from chaos and claimed the throne of Kahn. Now his reign is plagued by rising tensions at home and abroad. Determined to keep order, Kotal wrestles with the temptation to exercise the same brutal tactics as his predecessors. Kotal summons the power of the sun to strengthen his abilities against his opponents. Additionally, a more in-depth look at the fighting style of Kotal Kahn’s opponent, Jacqui Briggs, is showcased in the trailer with her implementing experience as a competitive fighter trained in kickboxing and martial arts.

Mortal Kombat 11 will be available beginning April 23rd for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC.

Space Junkies Open Beta Begins March 21st

Today, Ubisoft announced that Space Junkies, the upcoming arcade VR shooter, will hold an open beta beginning on March 21st until March 24th for PlayStation VR. Oculus Rift, HTC Vive and Windows Mixed Reality players will have access until March 25th.

The open beta will give players the opportunity to try Space Junkies for free ahead of its launch on March 26th. The open beta will offer the same experience as the full game, featuring four different PvP modes playable across several maps as well as a variety of characters each with unique characteristics.

For the first time, PlayStation VR and PC players will be able to challenge or team up with each other thanks to full cross-play support during the open beta and at launch across all platforms.

Sea of Thieves Sets Sail for Year Two on April 30th

Today, Rare announced the Anniversary Update for Sea of Thieves, the game’s biggest content update to date. The Anniversary Update offers new activities for every type of player and will be available on April 30th for free for all players and with Xbox Game Pass.

The Anniversary Update brings two major additions to the world of Sea of Thieves. A new PVP mode called The Arena will pit pirates against other crews in search of loot and bragging rights. In addition, Rare introduced Tall Tales, a story-rich collection of quests players can experience solo or with their crew in Sea of Thieves’ shared world. The first collection, ‘Shores of Gold,’ invites players to embark on an adventure of love, honor and betrayal in search of the mythical Shores of Gold.

Yager’s ‘The Cycle’ Coming Exclusively to Epic Games Store This Year

Yager, the developer of Spec Ops: The Line and Dreadnought, has revealed that its newest game, the competitive quest shooter The Cycle, will release exclusively on PC via the Epic Games Store later this year. Players can visit https://thecycle.game/sign-up/ to sign up for The Cycle’s three-day alpha test, which will run from March 28-30. The Cycle is expected to enter closed beta this spring.
