Larian Studios has announced that Baldur’s Gate 3 is expected to launch into early access this August… maybe. While Baldur’s Gate 3 continues to take shape, today’s new trailer demonstrates the mood and tone of the game.
COVID-19 has impacted the Larian team as it has many people around the world, but the shift to work-from-home has gratefully been a successful one, allowing Larian to continue building toward an early access period of (maybe!) August. Larian will have more information about the specific content of early access in the future, but the team is committed to working directly with community feedback to evolve the game during its early access campaign.
Larian also released a new community update video today hinting at changes that have come to the game since its first showing at PAX East 2020 earlier this year.
Firefly Studios today announced that Stronghold: Warlords, the latest entry in the castle sim series, will release for PC on September 29th. Set to launch almost two decades since development started on the original Stronghold, the date and new co-op mode were revealed in a new multiplayer trailer.
In a new trailer released today, Nintendo peeled back additional layers about the upcoming Paper Mario: The Origami King game, launching on July 17th for the Nintendo Switch.
IO Interactive today announced Hitman 3, the next game in the franchise, releasing on the PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X, Xbox One and PC in January 2021.
Hitman 3 is the conclusion to the World of Assassination trilogy, taking players around the world on a globetrotting adventure to sandbox locations, with Agent 47 returning for the most important contracts of his career. Supported by his Agency handler, Diana Burnwood, Agent 47 joins forces with his long-lost friend Lucas Grey. Their ultimate mission is to eliminate the partners of Providence, but they are forced to adapt as their hunt intensifies. When the dust settles, 47 and the world he inhabits will never be the same again.
Featuring six detailed locations full of creative opportunities, Hitman 3 gives players the freedom to complete their objectives in a game world that reacts to everything they do. Hitman 3 will act as a platform for the entire trilogy, making it possible for players to import locations that they own from previous Hitman games and play all 20+ locations from the trilogy in one place. Hitman 2 players will also have the option to carry over their unlocks and progression into Hitman 3. The entire Hitman 3 campaign will be available to play at launch when the game releases in January 2021.
Sony Interactive Entertainment today revealed new details for PlayStation 5, including the next-generation console’s design and a lineup of brand new games coming to the platform. In a livestream event today, SIE showed the PS5 hardware for the first time, with its two-tone design marking a radical departure from previous PlayStation consoles. PS5 will launch in two options: a standard model with an Ultra HD Blu-ray disc drive, and a digital model without a disc drive. Today’s livestream also provided fans with a first look at the new games that will define the next generation of gaming on PlayStation 5, most of which are launching as console exclusives or full exclusives on PS5.
One of the biggest series of all time, Grand Theft Auto, will be coming to PS5, thanks to the close partnership between SIE and Rockstar Games. Enhanced and expanded versions of Grand Theft Auto V and Grand Theft Auto Online will launch on PS5 in the second half of 2021. In addition, a new standalone version of Grand Theft Auto Online will also be made available, with access to all PS5 owners for free within the first three months of the title launching.
Additionally SIE Worldwide Studios and the industry’s top publishers and developers unveiled a lineup of PS5 titles during the livestream. Some of the first-party PlayStation Studios exclusives included: Marvel’s Spider-Man Miles Morales (Insomniac Games), Gran Turismo 7 (Polyphony Digital), and Horizon Forbidden West (Guerrilla Games). Reveals from third-party publishers included franchises such as NBA 2K21 and Resident Evil Village, as well as brand new IP launching on PS5 as console exclusives, such as Deathloop and Project Athia. New titles from independent developers, such as Stray and Bugsnax, demonstrated the diversity of content coming to the platform.

Today on PlayStation’s Future of Gaming digital event, Capcom announced Resident Evil Village, the eighth entry in the Resident Evil series. The all-new title is currently in development using Capcom’s proprietary RE Engine, which was used to create Resident Evil 7 biohazard, Resident Evil 2, Resident Evil 3, and Devil May Cry 5. Resident Evil Village is scheduled for a 2021 release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Steam.
In the debut cinematic trailer released today, Capcom revealed a glimpse of the new setting and storyline of Resident Evil Village. Set a few years after Resident Evil 7 biohazard, the all-new storyline begins with Ethan and his wife Mia living peacefully in a new location, free from their past nightmares. Just as they are building their new life together, tragedy befalls them once again. Chris Redfield, the hero from the Resident Evil series who made a brief appearance in Resident Evil 7 biohazard, is reacquainted with the couple and horribly disrupts their life, leaving Ethan devastated and thrown into an entirely new nightmare.
Today at Sony’s PlayStation event, Bethesda Softworks revealed that two titles announced at last year’s Bethesda E3 Showcase, Deathloop and Ghostwire: Tokyo, will release exclusively for console on the PlayStation 5, in addition to PC. Each title also debuted gameplay through two new trailers shown during the event.
As recently revealed at Sony’s PlayStation 5 digital event, the adventures of Michael, Franklin and Trevor are coming to a new generation of consoles, including PlayStation 5, in the second half of 2021. The new generation versions of Grand Theft Auto V will feature a range of technical improvements, visual upgrades and performance enhancements to take full advantage of the latest hardware.
And for the community of Grand Theft Auto Online players worldwide, the journey through the ever-evolving, shared world of GTA Online will continue on to the new generation with more new updates including additional GTA Online content exclusive to the new consoles and PC. There will also be a new standalone version of GTA Online coming in the second half of 2021, which will be available for free exclusively for PlayStation 5 players during the first three months.
2K today debuted a teaser trailer of NBA 2K21 running in-engine on PlayStation 5 during Sony’s Future of Gaming event. The first 2K title to be shown on next-gen hardware, NBA 2K21 will feature drastically improved load speeds, visual fidelity on an unmatched level and an unrivaled breadth of content for basketball fans and players. Fans can expect new game features, game modes, brand partnerships, social events, in-game experiences and a brand new soundtrack.
Square Enix today unveiled Project Athia (working title), the first game from its newly established studio, Luminous Productions, an other-worldly adventure in development for the PlayStation 5 and PC. Project Athia will transport players to a world filled with beauty and dismay as they set upon a story-led, action-adventure which can be twisted, tempestuous and forbidding.
