Following the recent announcement of Capcom Arcade Cabinet, Capcom today revealed the full list of classic 8-bit titles and how gamers will be able to transform their Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 into a customizable, HD 80s arcade.
Starting February 19th until early May, a total of 15 titles from 1984-1988 will be released on a staggered schedule available to purchase digitally either as a series of packs or individually. By purchasing all 15 titles, players will gain access to two bonus games for free.
Downloading an individual title or pack will also give access to the Capcom Arcade Cabinet ‘platform’ which provides additional features including DIP switch functionality, a music player, and the ability to capture and share screenshots or video. When playing in standard mode, players will be able to access DIP switch-like settings to adjust their number of lives and difficulty, including a Casual Mode which tones down the difficulty level and makes it more attainable to see the end credits. Further features include 2 player online play for certain titles; a global leaderboard; a training mode with infinite lives; and an option to select either the Japanese or international versions of the individual titles.
In order to share their experiences with friends, PlayStation 3 users will be able to capture video of gameplay to post on YouTube, while Xbox 360 users will be able to upload screenshots to Facebook. Further additions include a sound gallery that allows players to listen to the background music of any of the games in their cabinet, and an art gallery which fills with new pieces as players progress through the games.
Game Pack 1 and the first individual title, Black Tiger, will be available on February 19th. Xbox 360 owners will be able to play through the game with a single credit before restarting. On the PlayStation 3, players will have unlimited credits effectively giving them the full game for free. Each Game Pack will be available for $9.99 (800 MS Points). Each game will be available separately for $3.99 (320 MS Points). An All-in-One Pack, featuring all 15 titles, can be purchased for $29.99 (2000 MS Points).

Gearing up for the launch of Aliens: Colonial Marines on February 12th, Gearbox Software and Sega have released the Extended Cut version of the ‘Contact Trailer.’
Underlined with a classical piece of cinematic music by composer Clint Mansell, the trailer takes viewers on a vertical ride through the USS Sulaco with US Colonial Marines fighting for their lives against an incoming wave of Xenomorphs.
Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and Monolith Productions today announced that gamers can now download and play as the war-hardened dwarf, Glóin in Guardians of Middle-earth on Xbox Live Arcade. This new Guardian character will release for PlayStation Network soon.
As one of the 12 dwarves who accompanied Thorin Oakenshield to reclaim Erebor and father of Gimli, Glóin joins the character roster in Guardians of Middle-earth, with Season Pass holders set to receive two more Guardians in the coming months.
Also, for a limited time PlayStation Plus members can download Guardians of Middle-earth for free between February 4 through March 4.
Paradox Interactive today announced Heart of Darkness, the second expansion for Victoria II, the PC political/economic simulation of the Victorian Age.
Heart of Darkness, as its name suggests, focuses on the Scramble for Africa, the late 19th century rush for newly discovered wealth and land in a continent whose interior had been mostly free from European domination.
The upcoming expansion also introduces a new diplomatic event, International Crises, where the colliding desires of rival empires get settled by Great Power mediation and where smaller powers can manipulate their friends to support their own local ambitions.
Victoria II: Hearts of Darkness is scheduled for release in March.
Film and video game composer Kevin Riepl (Silent Night, ABCs of Death, The Aggression Scale, Gears of War, Resistance: Burning Skies) has created an original symphonic score for Aliens: Colonial Marines, launching on February 12th. Continuing the legacy of Jerry Goldsmith’s music in Alien and James Horner’s music in Aliens, Kevin Riepl’s original score for Aliens: Colonial Marines features all new themes and atmospheric underscores while staying faithful to the franchise’s iconic scores.
Focus Home Interactive today unveiled Obscure, a 2.5D side-scroller inspired by the teen and horror movie genres. Playable alone and in cooperative mode (local and online), Obscure lets you play as one of four unlikely heroes; students, each with unique skills and abilities that develop throughout the adventure. Obscure will release on Xbox Live Arcade, PlayStation Network and PC in Spring 2013.
Perfect World Entertainment today announced that the first Beta Weekend for the Dungeons & Dragons free-to-play MMORPG, Neverwinter, is about to begin. From February 8th through February 10th, thousands of players can look forward to 60 hours of beta access for the chance to experience Neverwinter before it launches later this year. In celebration, Perfect World has released Neverwinter’s latest cinematic trailer, Part 3: The Siege of Neverwinter.
McFarlane Toys, in partnership with Ubisoft, announced today a licensing agreement to bring Assassin’s Creed to store shelves.
McFarlane Toys’ Assassin’s Creed series 1 will consist of seven figures including the characters of Connor and Haytham Kenway. Connor will come as two action figures – one in his Assassin’s Creed III traditional Assassins garb and the second, as Ratonhnhaké:ton in the upcoming “Tyranny of King George” storyline.
The Assassin Creed figure line of figures will stand approximately six inches tall, include an average of 25 points of articulation, and will come with a unique code that unlocks exclusive Assassin’s Creed video game content.
McFarlane Toys’ Assassin’s Creed action figures will retail for $16.99 and will be available at major retailers in Canada, including Walmart, Target, Toys “R” Us, EB Games, Amazon, local comic book stores, and more.
