Sierra to Publish Shiftlings

Sierra today announced it has teamed up with Rock Pocket Games to publish the Norway-based studio’s upcoming puzzle platforming game, Shiftlings, coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC this spring.

Set in an intergalactic reality show, Shiftlings is a puzzle platformer about a pair of space custodians who travel the cosmos completing challenges. Shiftlings’ special twist is that these two oddballs are linked by a single air hose, allowing them to pass gas back and forth between their space suits in an instant. This feature lets one character expand massively in size and weight, reducing mobility but providing clever ways to solve objectives and reach new terrain. The full adventure, crafted for both single-player and two-player local and online cooperative multiplayer, sees our intrepid janitorial heroes conquering over 50 levels spread across five unique worlds.

Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin Screenshots, Details

Bandai Namco has released new screenshots for Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin focusing on the gameplay improvements and advancement of the Dark Souls II story. A free patch will be available February 5th for existing Dark Souls II owners on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and PC which will update their game with new Dark Souls II content including:

Brand New NPC

  • The Scholar of the First Sin character appears throughout the game and will reveal a new path through the Dark Souls II universe. What will this mysterious new character reveal to players?

Expanded Item Descriptions

  • Many items contain expanded descriptions to help deepen the lore in the Dark Souls II universe.

    New Items

    • Players will gain access to a new item: the Agape Ring. When players equip the new Agape Ring, souls collected from kills during online play will be absorbed by the ring rather than the player. This allows players to control their online matchmaking experience by limiting their total souls collected.

    Online Matching Improvements

    • The bonfire warp selection screen will now highlight the top three areas where players will have the best chance to connect with other players online.
    • White phantoms will remain in other players’ worlds for longer periods of time. Also, white phantoms will no longer return to their world if time runs out during a boss battle.
    • Other improvements to the matchmaking system will help players connect and enjoy Dark Souls II online.

    New Enemy Behavior

    • The Imitation spell now affects normal enemies.

    Covenant of Champions

    • Choosing to enter the Covenant of Champions will now allow enemies to continue to respawn after being defeated.

Dark Souls: Scholar of the First Sin will be available for the PlayStation 4, Xbox One as well as PCs with DirectX 11 on April 7th. This new vision will include updated graphics and performance, new enemy placement, increase in online players, and additional gameplay enhancements as well as all the new content stated above. All three DLC missions released for Dark Souls II will also be included with Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin.

Battlefield Hardline Open Beta Coming to All Platforms

Electronic Arts today announced that the second Battlefield Hardline beta will be open to all players on all platforms – PC, Xbox One, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3.

Bust out those new gadgets, form new strategies and showcase your skills on two different maps and modes. First, take a test drive of Hotwire, an all-new mode coming to Battlefield focused on combining all-out warfare with all-out speed. This is how you introduce yourself to the new flavor Visceral Games is bringing to Battlefield with Battlefield Hardline. Or you can go all-out in 64-player cops and criminals warfare in the oldie but goodie, Conquest.

While it’s just a taste of the whole game, there won’t be a cap on the max progression level so whether you’re busting criminals or fleeing the cops, unlock away. The beta is your shot to test the different classes, toy with different gadgets, and find your crew to take down your foes.
