Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare Gameplay Video

PopCap Games has released a new gameplay from video from the yet-to-be-seen gameplay mode from Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare – Gardens & Graveyards.

24-player Gardens & Graveyards is a remix of Rush and Conquest gameplay modes from Battlefield but with a Plants vs. Zombies spin. Zombies are on the attack and must take the plant bases using team work and summoned zombie hordes before getting to a final battle with a rush like objective that changes on each map. Plants will be able to setup tower defense style defensive plants at each base to help them hold off the zombie onslaught. Zombies win if they take all the objectives, plants win if the timer runs out before the zombies can take over the map.

Plants vs. Zombies: Garden Warfare will be available on February 18th for Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC.

Dying Light Night-time Gameplay Walkthrough

Techland and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment have released a new gameplay video from Dying Light, showcasing the darker side of the game’s day-and-night-cycle mechanic. The video gives a glimpse into different strategies that players will adopt depending on the time of day in order to survive.

Dying Light will launch for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360, PlayStation 4 and PC in 2014.

ESPN FC Champions Cup Announced

ESPN FC is teaming up with EA Sports and Virgin Gaming to present to soccer fans on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 the ESPN FC Champions Cup, ESPN’s major online gaming tournament including the US, Canada, UK, Germany, Spain, France, Brazil and Latin America. Powered by Virgin Gaming, the two overall winners on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 will win an all-expense paid trip to ESPN headquarters in Bristol, Conn. for the live televised final on ESPN FC and a behind-the-scenes tour of the studios on February 5th. The winner will receive a $2,500 USD grand prize.

Sign-ups are open throughout the qualifying round on VirginGaming.com/ESPNFC, where players can register for a Virgin Gaming account, opt-in to the ESPN FC Champions Cup leaderboards and begin qualifying. All prizing for the ESPN FC Champions Cup will be awarded through Virgin Gaming. The free-to-enter tournament for premium and non-premium users will advance the top two players on each of the four leaderboards into the online bracketed semifinal round.

Every game played in the EA Sports Arena will count towards an overall ranking in the leaderboards. They include:

  • Week 1, December 16-22: Most Games Played
  • Week 2, December 23-29: Most Wins
  • Week 3, January 6-12: Most Goals Scored
  • Week 4, January 13-19: Most Shots on Goal

The 16-person bracketed semifinals will be held on January 24-25 in a three round, single elimination game online leading up to the champion of each console. Weekly updates will be featured on ESPN FC throughout the tournament.

Square Enix has released the Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII Guided Tour video. Featuring never-before released footage, viewers are acquainted with the game’s premise, the four primary areas to discover, and the numerous gameplay innovations – from the rebuilt battle system to the time-driven quests, to the open-world exploration and the social networking features.

Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII will be available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 on February 11th.

Assassin’s Creed IV ‘Freedom Cry’ Add-On Available Tomorrow

Ubisoft today announced that Freedom Cry, an all-new, single-player add-on for Assassin’s Creed: IV Black Flag, will be available for download tomorrow on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, Xbox One, Xbox 360 and PC for $9.99. Freedom Cry is included in the Season Pass and can be downloaded at no additional cost for Season Pass owners. Freedom Cry extends the Black Flag experience with a new, more than four-hour, self-contained story featuring Edward Kenway’s first mate, Adewale, who is forced to face his past and sets out to free slaves.

Once a pirate, now a trained Assassin and member of the Brotherhood, Freedom Cry tells the story of Adewale 15 years after the events of Black Flag. Taking place in 18th-century Haiti, Adewale will take his new crew and new set of weapons, including a machete and a blunderbuss, to assassinate enemies, and free slaves, delivering merciless justice in plantations and cities alike. When the fight goes to the seas, Adewale will command the Experto Crede, a fearsome brig that can take down the slavers in the Caribbean.

CastleStorm Coming to Wii U

Zen Studios today announced that CastleStorm is making its way to the Wii U via the eShop on December 26th for $9.99.

CastleStorm makes full use of the Wii U Gamepad, allowing the game to be fully playable on the GamePad without a TV. All functionality is available without touch as well, using the sticks and buttons. In local multiplayer, one player uses the Pro Controller and looks at the TV, the other player uses the GamePad and plays on the Gamepad screen.

Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster Collector’s Edition Unveiled

Square Enix today announced a Collector’s Edition for Final Fantasy X / X-2 HD Remaster for the PlayStation 3. Set to launch on March 18th, the collector’s bundle will be available exclusively through the Square Enix Online Store for $79.99.

Enclosed within a hardcover artbook that comprises the PS3 version of the game, the Collector’s Edition features 40 pages of imagery from the world of Spira. Alongside five lithographs of artwork and characters, the packaging will also include a Final Fantasy X HD Remaster Original Soundtrack – with more than six hours of music on a Blu-ray Disc.

Ultra Street Fighter IV Adding Two New Modes

Capcom revealed two new gameplay modes that will be included in Ultra Street Fighter IV for PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC. In addition to the new features and rebalanced gameplay, the new version will give players the opportunity to practice online with their fellow fighters in an Online Training Mode. Additionally, Team Battle Mode will bring 3v3 matches online where players can team up with their favorite world warriors to battle it out for online supremacy.

Owners of Super Street Fighter IV or Super Street Fighter IV: Arcade Edition will be able to download Ultra Street Fighter IV as a $14.99 digital upgrade for PS3 and Xbox 360 in early June. The PC digital upgrade for $14.99 and the PC full digital bundle for $29.99 will both be available in August. Also in August, PS3 and Xbox 360 users can purchase the retail versions or the full download version of the game for $39.99. Players who purchase the retail or full digital bundle will receive all previously released costumes for the series.
