Sony Online Entertainment announced that the Closed Beta begins today for PlanetSide 2, the free-to-play MMOFPS, through the PlayStation 4.
Players can still register for the Closed Beta, which begins today with a few thousand initial invites followed by a steady increase throughout the Beta period. Players will be invited to Beta chronologically and can opt in by email for a chance to participate in Closed Beta via the PlanetSide 2 website.
NIS America today announced that the dungeon crawler RPG, Operation Abyss: New Tokyo Legacy, is arriving exclusively for PlayStation Vita on April 14. The title will be available as both a physical and digital release.
Perfect World Entertainment and Cryptic Studios today announced Neverwinter: Elemental Evil – the newest module for the action MMORPG. Following the launch of Neverwinter: Elemental Evil, Cryptic Studios will release modules later in 2015 with requested additions including Strongholds and well-known characters from Dungeons & Dragons lore.
With the largest update to-date, Neverwinter: Elemental Evil brings a new playable class – the Paladin – that increases the playable classes count to eight. Players looking to create Paladins will be able to choose a focus on healing or tanking builds. The new module will also increase the level cap from 60 to 70, which brings a new set of quests, feats and slottable class feature powers.
Capcom today announced that the definitive version of Resident Evil is now available for digital download on PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3, Xbox One and Xbox 360, and PC for $19.99.

2K and Gearbox Software announced today that Borderlands: The Handsome Collection is coming to the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on March 24th for $59.99. Fans will be able to experience Handsome Jack’s rise to power in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and his reign as maniacal Hyperion CEO in Borderlands 2, in one package and all in high definition. Borderlands: The Handsome Collection also includes all of the DLC for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel and Borderlands 2. Another first in Borderlands history is 4-player split screen with up to four friends playing together on a single TV. Additionally, accomplished Vault Hunters can even transfer their saves from prior-gen systems to next-gen within the same console family.
Also announced today, a very limited run of 5,000 Borderlands: The Handsome Collection Claptrap-in-a-Box Editions will be available on March 24th for $399 and will include a remote-controlled Claptrap that can speak in “Claptrap”, stream live footage and is fully mobile while balancing on one wheel. The Claptrap-in-a-Box Edition also comes with a collectible steel package and 12 exclusive lithographs.
GRIP Digital, Talawa Games and Teotl Studios announced today that Unmechanical: Extended is coming first to Xbox One via the ID@Xbox self-publishing program on January 30th, followed by the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 3 on February 10th. The PSN version will offer Cross-Buy.
