Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India – Gameplay Overview

Ubisoft has released a new trailer for Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India. The second chronicle in the trilogy takes place in 19th-century India, at the height of British control while tensions were quickly escalating between the Sikh Empire and the East India Company. It follows the story of Assassin Arbaaz Mir as he fights to stop a Master Templar from stealing the famed Koh-i-noor diamond and works to steal back a mysterious box that belonged to the Assassin Order.

Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India will be available for download January 12th on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 Multiplayer Beta Starts January 14th

PopCap Vancouver today announced Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 will host a public access multiplayer beta beginning January 14th, and ending January 18th. The multiplayer beta will be available for Xbox One and PlayStation 4, and will be a chance for players to experience the shooter before Plants vs. Zombies Garden Warfare 2 hits stores February 23rd.

Downloading the multiplayer beta will get you:

  • Limited access to Backyard Battleground, an all-new environment that connects you to every map and mode, and brings to life more ways to experience the Plants vs. Zombies universe. Take your time exploring, or jump into the action right away with the King of the Hill-inspired mode, Flag of Power. Raise the Flag of Power and do everything you can to prevent the enemy from lowering it; igniting an all-out war where you’ll fight off wave after wave of enemies in battle.
  • Six new playable character classes are available including Rose, Citron, and Kernel Corn on the side of the plants, and Imp, Super Brainz and Captain Deadbeard on the side of the zombies. There will also be select variants including the Grass Effect Z7-Mech for a limited time.
  • Classic and brand new game modes with 24-player multiplayer battles, including Garden and Graveyards, and the new Herbal Assault featuring plants on the offensive.
  • Four new maps, including the low gravity Moon Base Z, and the snowy Frosty Creek.

To start playing the public access multiplayer beta, download it from the Xbox Live Marketplace and the PlayStation Network Store on January 14th.

Oculus Rift Pre-Orders Now Open, First Shipments March 28th

Oculus VR today announced that Rift is now available to pre-order for $599 USD on Oculus.com and it will ship starting March 28th. Rift will also be available in limited locations at select retailers starting in April.

Rift includes the headset with built-in headphones and mic, sensor, an Xbox One controller, and a copy of Lucky’s Tale, the VR platformer developed by Playful. Rift also includes the Oculus Remote. When you pre-order Rift, you’ll also secure your place in line for Touch pre-orders later this year.

All Rift pre-orders include access to EVE: Valkyrie through the Founder’s Pack, which will include exclusive in-game content, founder status in Valkyrie, and much more. Details about everything included in the EVE: Valkyrie Founder’s Pack will be revealed soon.

In 2016 alone, Oculus Studios will introduce more than 20 games that are coming exclusively to Oculus this year, including Rockband VR by Harmonix, Edge of Nowhere by Insomniac, and The Climb by Crytek. Additional titles will be announced soon.

For the full Rift experience, the following PC specs are recommended:

  • Graphics card: NVIDIA GTX 970 / AMD R9 290 equivalent or greater
  • Processor: Intel i5-4590 equivalent or greater
  • Memory: 8GB+ RAM
  • Output: Compatible HDMI 1.3 video output
  • Input: 3x USB 3.0 ports plus 1x USB 2.0 port
  • Operating system: Windows 7 SP1 64 bit or newer

Bundles that include an Oculus Ready PC and a Rift will be available for pre-order in February starting at $1499.

2016 Independent Games Festival Announces Finalists

The judges of the 18th annual Independent Games Festival (IGF) have announced the 2016 awards finalists from a record-breaking 750 entries. The IGF, which recognizes outstanding development in independent games, has nominated 25 innovative and exemplary projects released in the past year, as selected by a panel of industry professionals.

Finalists for IGF 2016 include Dinosaur Polo Club’s minimalistic subway layout game Mini Metro, Sam Barlow’s engrossing crime fiction game Her Story, and That Dragon, Cancer, Nominous Games’ deeply personal and emotional journey through a young boy’s cancer treatment.

The winners of the IGF Awards will be announced at the Independent Games Festival Awards, which take place on the evening of Wednesday, March 16th at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center, during the 30th Game Developers Conference (GDC). All finalist games will be playable at the IGF Pavilion located at the 2016 GDC Expo floor from March 16-18, with the developers present.

New Premium Shows Added to Guitar Hero Live

Kalypso Media to Publish Agatha Christie – The ABC Murders

Kalypso Media today announced its partnership with French publisher Microïds in bringing the boxed retail versions of the upcoming adventure title Agatha Christie – The ABC Murders to PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. Agatha Christie – The ABC Murders will be available digitally via Steam for PC on February 4th, with the retail PC, PS4 and Xbox One versions launching on February 23rd.

EA Sports UFC 2 Launches March 15th

Electronic Arts today announced EA Sports UFC 2 launches on March 15. In addition to the announcement, EA released a cinematic trailer featuring some of the biggest moments from recent bouts, showcasing gameplay features, and highlighting new character visuals and signature animations. The trailer opens on EA Sports UFC 2 cover athlete and UFC featherweight champion, Conor McGregor showing fans the all-new Knockout Physics System in his championship fight at UFC 194. From there, fans will see Dynamic Grappling, and Next-Level Submissions while reliving some of the moments from recent fights, and speculating what could happen in upcoming contests.
