Hitman Begins Today

Io-Interactive announced that Hitman, the first digital AAA episodic game, launches today on the PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.

Hitman starts with the Prologue and a Paris location on March 11th, followed by the next location, set in Italy releasing in April and then Morocco releasing in May. From there Hitman will deliver regular monthly content updates, including three additional locations; Thailand, the United States and the season conclusion in Japan later in 2016.

In addition live content begins today. The first Escalation Contract is in the game today, with the next one scheduled for March 16th. These are in-game contracts created by Io-Interactive which gradually increase in difficulty the more you play them.

And the first Elusive Target will appear in the game at some point in the next ten days. These are targets who appear for a limited time only, the first one will be live for 48 hours in the game. And players get only one chance to take them out, there are no second chances. This is a new character with bespoke dialogue and behavior in the game. Players will only receive their Elusive Target briefing once the new character has entered their location.

The Intro Pack is available today for $15. Each subsequent location will be priced at $10 as an add-on item to the Intro Pack. Alternatively, players can buy the Full Experience up front for $60. This includes all of this year’s content as it’s released, and guarantees not to miss any live or bonus content. The disc version of Hitman will ship in January 2017.

Rocket League and Dying Light Collaborate

Techland and Psyonix have partnered up to bring some Dying Light love into Rocket League and vice versa. Starting today, fans can equip their Dying Light: The Following dirt buggies with a unique Rocket League themed paint job. Just use the official docket code LightMyRocket and redeem it here. Similarly in Rocket League, players will be able to kit out their rides with Dying Light inspired stuff.

Book of Demons Announced

Indie studio Thing Trunk today announced Book of Demons, a dark fantasy action role-playing game for PC. The game will be available on Steam in Q3 2016. Courtesy of Humble Store, the game can now be pre-ordered at a promo price of $14.95 on the official website.

Book of Demons is the first installment in the Return 2 Games series which was announced by Thing Trunk last year. Each game in the R2G series takes place in Paperverse where all characters and objects are made of folded paper. True to the origins of the hack & slash genre, Book of Demons tells the universal story of good vs evil, of a hero’s quest to save the world from the ultimate devilry.

Furi – Boss Fight Video

The Game Bakers have released a 10-minute gameplay video for Furi. This full-length boss fight is actually a speedrun that showcases the skill, reflexes, and strategy required to beat one of its multiple bosses.

Furi is slated for release on PlayStation 4 and PC in 2016.

February 2016 Video Game Sales Results

The NPD Group has released its retail report for the month of February. Software and hardware sales were down year-over-year in February, by 10% and 23% respectively. Overall, total industry sales were down 12% to $842.5 million. PlayStation 4 was the top-selling hardware platform and the software sales leader in February.

The top selling games of February were as follows:

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada Multiplayer Beta Begins

Battlefleet Gothic: Armada, Tindalos Interactive’s real-time strategy game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, opens its beta today. All players who pre-order the game on Steam or the official store can immediately join this beta, build their first fleets and test their worth as Admiral against other players or the AI.

In addition to the 10% discount offered during the pre-order period, Early Adopters of Battlefleet Gothic: Armada will receive one extra faction for free – the Space Marines – and immediate access to the Beta of the game. From today, players can practice building their Imperium and Chaos fleets and get used to the gameplay mechanics in the solo campaign prologue, before testing their skills against the AI or players online in 1v1 skirmishes. The remaining factions (Orks and Eldar), as well as the full solo campaign and other multiplayer modes (like 2vs2) will be made available when the game launches later in March. The Space Marines fleet will be available to play a few weeks after the game launches.
