Battleborn’s First Story Op and PVP Mode Available Today

2K and Gearbox Software today released Battleborn’s first DLC Story Operation, Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion, and the new competitive multiplayer mode, Face-Off.

Face-Off: In this multi-phase 5v5 mode, players will hunt and kill Varelsi, collecting their masks and depositing them for points near the center of the map. Of course, you have to avoid being killed by the opposing team, who can steal some of these masks for themselves if they KO you before you’re able to deposit them. The team to 500 points first wins the match.

Attikus and the Thrall Rebellion: The first story operation is part of the Season Pass ($19.99 or $4.99 separately) and tells the story of Attikus and what motivated him to fight in the Thrall uprising through the slums of the planet, Tempest. The all-new operation includes new skins, taunts and chances to earn Faction Commander Packs. This story operation is also replayable with dialogue, enemies, and objectives changing depending on the current playthrough, and each time a player relives the Thrall Rebellion, they can unlock new lore, skins, titles, and taunts.

PlayStation VR Launches

PlayStation-VR-Promo

Sony Interactive Entertainment America today launched PlayStation VR, a virtual reality system for the PlayStation 4. Concurrent with the global launch, PS VR is now available in the United States and Canada at a SRP of USD $399 and CAD $549 respectively. PS VR arrives with a lineup of 30 games, including exclusive titles such as Rez Infinite, Batman: Arkham VR, Driveclub VR and RIGS Mechanized Combat League. In total, PS VR will have a library of approximately 50 games by the end of the year.

PS VR delivers a sense of presence, where players feel as though they are physically inside the virtual world of a game. PS VR leverages state-of-the-art technologies, such as 360 degree head tracking, wide field of view, high refresh rates, and SIE’s own binaural 3D audio technology, to heighten the emotions gamers experience as they play and make them believe they’ve been transported to another world. By using peripherals such as PlayStation Move Motion Controller, Dualshock 4 Wireless Controller and the upcoming PS VR Aim Controller, players can explore virtual environments and intuitively interact with characters as if they are actually present in the world of a game.

PS VR integrates a “Social Screen” feature that allows users who are not wearing the VR headset to see on the TV what the PS VR player is seeing in the headset, or to play alongside the VR player in supporting games. Games such as The Playroom VR, which will be available as a free download to all PS VR owners, take advantage of this feature and demonstrate how PS VR can create unique multiplayer experiences when shared with friends and family.

PS VR will launch with a large and diverse lineup of first- and third-party games including EVE: Valkyrie, Thumper, 100ft Robot Golf, Job Simulator, Superhypercube, Battlezone, Eagle Flight, Here They Lie, PlayStation VR Worlds and Until Dawn: Rush of Blood.

With more than 230 developers and publishers working on PS VR titles, the system’s games portfolio will continue to expand after launch with games including RResident Evil 7 biohazard, Robinson: The Journey, Star Wars Battlefront Rogue One: X-wing VR Mission, Star Trek: Bridge Crew and Farpoint.

Gorgo Also Leads Greece in Civilization VI

2K and Firaxis Games today revealed that Gorgo will also lead Greece in Sid Meier’s Civilization VI, launching on October 21st for PC.

While not much is known about her childhood, history remembers Queen Gorgo of Sparta, married to King Leonidas I in the 5th century BC, as a wise politician and capable ruler. She reigned alongside her King during the Greco-Persian Wars, a series of conflicts between the Persian Empire and the independent Greek city-states, and aided King Leonidas in his quest to form a coalition to muster against the impending invasion from Xerxes.

Though Xerxes made some advancements and held a large chunk of Europe during his invasion, the Greeks eventually expelled the Persians from Europe and ensured no Persian soldiers stepped on Spartan soil.
