Phoenix Labs, a new indie game studio, has revealed their debut title at the 2016 Game Awards with Dauntless, an online co-op action role-playing game set in a science-fantasy world. Players take on the role of elite warriors known as Slayers who protect humanity by hunting ferocious Behemoths. Dauntless is being created by a team of industry veterans from BioWare, Riot Games, and other studios, led by co-founders Jesse Houston, Sean Bender and Robin Mayne.
The world of Dauntless has been shattered by a cataclysmic event, creating a vast array of uncharted and majestic floating islands. Behemoths, as cunning as they are vicious, consume the land, and it’s up to the Slayers to hunt them down before they destroy what remains of the world. Slayers can go at it alone or join cooperative parties with up to four people to take on the Behemoth threat. No two encounters are alike – each brings its own unique challenges and rewards. To survive on the Shattered Isles, players collect rewards from their hunts to upgrade their arsenal of weapons and armor in a crafting system.
Dauntless will be available as a free-to-play downloadable game on PC in 2017.
Telltale Games, along with Marvel Entertainment, today announced an interactive episodic game series based on Marvel’s sci-fi franchise Guardians of the Galaxy. The first of five episodes in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy: The Telltale Series will premiere digitally in 2017 on consoles and PC.
The series will also be coming to retail as a special season pass disc, which will include the first episode in the season, and will grant access to the subsequent four episodes as they become available for download via online updates. Specific platform details are yet to be announced.
People Can Fly and Gearbox Publishing today announced Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition, as the shooter comes to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC on April 7th in ultra-high resolutions. Updated with hi-res textures, increased polygon counts, remastered audio, smoother framerates, and running in up to 4K resolution on PC and PS4 Pro, this upgraded version of the game comes with all of the previously-released DLC along with all-new content. Also for the first time ever, players who pre-order the game will get the chance to play as Duke Nukem in Bulletstorm: Full Clip Edition. Featuring full voice over from the voice of Duke, this feature will replace main character Grayson Hunt with Duke Nukem and provide a never-before-seen experience to fans.
Live from the Game Awards, indie developer and publisher Digital Extremes announced the cinematic quest, The War Within, will hit Warframe on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 this December for free, featuring new missions, enemies, planets and more.
