Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker Announces New Release Date Alongside Launch Trailer

Square Enix today announced the fourth expansion pack for its MMO, Final Fantasy XIV: Endwalker, will now release on December 7th, with Early Access set to begin on December 3rd.

Final Fantasy XIV Online Producer and Director Naoki Yoshida discussed the new release date during the latest Letter from the Producer Live broadcast, and provided the below statement regarding the reasons for the change:

“We sincerely apologize for postponing the release at the last minute on this occasion. We will of course deliver a new adventure in FFXIV to follow on from Endwalker but, with the various struggles we experienced from the failure of the original FFXIV leading up to where we are now, I just couldn’t contain my desire to perfect Endwalker to the best of my ability. As a result, the time we spent on quality improvement exceeded our expectations and we ended up using our time allotted for debugging. On the other hand, as stability is crucial for an online game, I have taken the decision to postpone the release of the expansion pack for two weeks in order to resecure the time for debugging that would arise as we wrap up development.”

“Once more, I’d like to convey my deepest apologies to all of our Warriors of Light and partners for the inconvenience this has caused. We will continue to do our utmost to bring you the best adventure in Endwalker and to expand the game experience through further updates that will follow, in order to restore your trust step by step.”

During the broadcast, Yoshida also debuted the Endwalker Launch Trailer and a teaser for the Endwalker theme song music video.

Marvel’s Avengers Update Adds New Klaw Raid and PS-Exclusive Hero Spider-Man This Month

Today, Square Enix announced that Marvel’s Avengers patch 2.2 will launch on November 30th, bringing with it an entirely new four-player Raid to take on the villain Klaw as well as a new Hero exclusive to PlayStation, Spider-Man.

In addition to the Raid and Hero, the update brings with it several new and improved systems, including:

  • Shipments – The Shipments feature provides an entirely new path to earn cosmetics, resources, and other items strictly through gameplay, a highly requested option from the Marvel’s Avengers community. Each Shipment costs 500 Units (the currency earned while playing the game) and pulls from a collection of nearly 250 possible items, with a small chance of rewarding a premium Outfit unavailable via any other means of acquisition. But luck isn’t required to get the Outfit; players will automatically receive it after claiming 100 Shipments.
  • Power-Level Increase – The maximum Power Level achievable will increase from 150 to 175. Acquiring the best gear requires players to complete the game’s toughest challenge: the new four-player Klaw Raid: Discordant Sound.
  • Gear Upgrading – Players will be able to recycle gear of a higher power level to upgrade their current gear to match the higher-power level of the consumed item, with few exceptions.
