Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z Announced

From Team Ninja and producer Keiji Inafune, the creator of Mega Man, comes a new game project involving zombies, action, ninjas and mechs. Revealed as Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z, the game is currently under early development between Inafune’s studio, comcept, and Team Ninja, with co-development by Spark Unlimited. Although no further details on the game are being disclosed, fans can get a glimpse at Yaiba in a new teaser video.

Zone of the Enders HD Collection Dated, Bonus

Konami today unveiled the launch date for Zone of the Enders HD Collection, coming October 30th to the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. Konami will also include a demo of Metal Gear Rising: Revengeance along with the retail version of Zone of the Enders HD Collection at launch. The demo will be the first time consumers will be able to experience the title’s “cut at will” game mechanic first hand.

Way of the Samurai 4 DLC Released

XSEED Games announced today that a series of add-on packs have been released for Way of the Samurai 4, and are now available for download on PlayStation Network at prices ranging from $0.99-$4.99.

Headlining the DLC, “Where Are They Now?” ($4.99) will add a new mission and unlock characters who may be familiar to fans of the series, as the heroes of previous installments (Dona Dona and Sayo from Way of the Samurai and Way of the Samurai 2, respectively) will enter the battlefield as playable characters with custom gear.

Furthermore, new challenges await in the “Shinsengumi” DLC pack ($4.99). Players will be tasked with completing a new mission that rewards them with one of the most famous members of the legendary Shinsengumi group.

In addition to these new missions, three rare weapons packs (each available for $2.99), a mineral pack which will allow players to construct weapons ($0.99) and a scrolls set that adds new attacks ($0.99) will be introduced for players to gain quick access to armaments and skills.

PlayStation 3 Slim Coming This Holiday

Sony Computer Entertainment today announced the new PlayStation 3, featuring a new design and a downsized form factor, will become available this holiday season. The new PS3 will come in 2 models including extended built in Hard Disk Drive capacity of 500GB (available for $299 on October 30th) and 250GB (available for $249 on September 25th).

Completely redesigning the internal design architecture, the internal volume and weight of the new PS3 is reduced by more than half compared to the very first PS3 model with a 60GB HDD, and by 20% and 25% respectively compared to the current PS3. In addition, a variety of accessories will be introduced by Sony including a vertical stand that offers more flexibility in how the new PS3 can be displayed.

Dark Souls: Atorias of the Abyss Coming to Consoles

Namco Bandai today announced that the Artorias of the Abyss content that debuted in Dark Souls: Prepare to Die Edition is coming to consoles and will be available for purchase via digital download on both the PlayStation Network and Xbox Live on October 23rd. In addition to new maps and environments, new boss characters, enemies, NPCs, and an arsenal of new weapons and armor, the Artorias of the Abyss DLC content will also provide players with an enhanced online PVP (player vs. player) mode.

PlayStation Plus Coming to PS Vita

Sony Computer Entertainment today announced that PlayStation Plus, the subscription service package on PlayStation Network, will become available for PlayStation Vita in November.

By purchasing a PlayStation Plus membership on PlayStation Store, PS Vita owners will be able to play free games, receive discounts for select titles, and enjoy other benefits unique to the service. A variety of PlayStation Plus subscription options will be available, including a 90 day plan ($17.99) and a 365 day plan ($49.99).

PlayStation 3 owners with existing PlayStation Plus memberships, as well as first time members through PS Vita, will be able to enjoy PlayStation Plus features and services on both PS3 and PS Vita at no extra cost.

Midway Arcade Origins Announced

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today announced Midway Arcade Origins, a compilation of more than 30 classic Midway titles from the golden age of arcades. Available for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 this holiday season for $29.99, the collection offers arcade favorites, including Gauntlet, Rampage, Joust, Spy Hunter, Defender, Marble Madness and more. Players will also be able to enjoy many games with up to three of their friends in local, co-op multiplayer and post their high scores online.
