Season Five of Modern Warfare, including Warzone, has received a mid-season update featuring the launch of the Call of Duty Games of Summer global seasonal event.
For the first time in Call of Duty franchise history, community members from around the world – both those who own Modern Warfare and free-to-play Warzone – will be able to represent their country in single-player Trials of skill. Games of Summer begins on August 28th and runs until September 7th.
Season Five Reloaded also introduces a new map and game modes in Modern Warfare and Warzone. Gunfight Tournament returns to Modern Warfare, on a new map that takes place on the pitch level of Stadium.
A new Ground War mode variant called Ground War Reinforced will have Modern Warfare players fighting for flags in order to respawn downed teammates. Warzone players will be able to jump into a new game mode called King Slayer, which is a large-scale Team Deathmatch on Battle Royale where teams fight to earn points by defeating hostile players. But in this mode, the circle doesn’t collapse, rather it moves around the map for an agile battle on the go. Eliminating one of the enemies’ top five scoring players (Kings) will award players additional points and a free killstreak.
Modern Warfare and Warzone players will also have a new weapon to look forward to – the FINN LMG. An agile, mobile, and hostile tank of an LMG, the FiNN’s ultra-light and open-bolt design is uniquely paired with advanced recoil controls. This all adds up to a weapon with full-auto accuracy while still being lightweight, allowing for a unique playstyle that further blurs the line between assault rifle and LMG.
A spaghetti western-loving gunslinger is also coming to town, ready to lay down the law for the Coalition. Morte, a new Italian Operator, will also be available later this season as part of the new bundles available in the Store.
Electronic Arts announced today that EA Sports NHL 21 is coming to the PlayStation 4 And Xbox One on October 16th and unveiled a first look at Stanley Cup winner Alex Ovechkin as the game’s cover athlete, for the second time. This iteration of the franchise brings to life a revamped Be A Pro experience, expanded creative gameplay, the new Hockey Ultimate Team (HUT) RUSH, and World of CHEL additions offering players the opportunity to create an Ovechkin-esque style and legacy.

Continuing The Elder Scrolls Online’s Dark Heart of Skyrim year-long adventure, the two-dungeon Stonethorn DLC and Update 27 are live today for PC and Stadia. Update 27, a free update that brings a series of quality-of-life improvements, fixes, and balance changes to the game also released today. Stonethorn will release on Xbox One and PlayStation 4 next week on September 1st.
The penultimate update to ESO’s Dark Heart of Skyrim brings two new dungeons — Castle Thorn and Stone Garden — and are filled with beasts and battles to overcome, new questlines to experience, and additional Achievements, item sets, and collectibles to earn. While these dungeons are part of a larger, grand narrative, new and existing players can jump in and enjoy their stories without having to complete any of the previous adventures in the Dark Heart of Skyrim storyline.
Warner Bros. Games and DC today announced Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League, a new action-adventure shooter that can be played solo or with up to four players in online co-op. Based on iconic DC characters and developed by Rocksteady Studios, creators of the Batman: Arkham series, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League combines the studio’s signature character-driven story gameplay with third-person shooter action. The game will be available in 2022 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and PC.
Featuring an original narrative set in the DC universe, Suicide Squad: Kill the Justice League takes place in an open-world Metropolis. The story follows Suicide Squad members Harley Quinn, Deadshot, Captain Boomerang and King Shark who must take on an impossible mission to save Earth and kill the world’s greatest DC Super Heroes, The Justice League. Restrained with lethal explosives implanted in their heads, all four DC Super-Villains have no choice but to band together and carry out this untenable assignment as part of Amanda Waller’s infamous Task Force X. Fans can tailor their experience, whether playing on their own as a single player, switching between characters at will, or teaming up with friends in multiplayer co-op.

Warner Bros. Games and DC today announced Gotham Knights, a brand-new open-world, third-person action RPG videogame in development from Warner Bros. Games Montréal. Gotham Knights features the Batman Family as players step into the roles of Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin, a new guard of trained DC Super Heroes who must rise up as the protectors of Gotham City in the wake of Batman’s death.
Introducing an original story set in DC’s Batman Universe, Gotham Knights offers a dynamic and interactive Gotham City where an exploding criminal element has swept through the streets. With the Belfry as their base of operations, this new era of heroes will solve mysteries that connect the darkest chapters in the city’s history and must defeat notorious villains. Players must save Gotham from a descent into chaos and reinvent themselves into their own version of the Dark Knight.
In Gotham Knights, players can explore the open-world action of Gotham and patrol the dark streets of the city’s five distinct boroughs using a variety of traversal abilities and heroic combat moves, as well as the iconic Batcycle. As Batgirl, Nightwing, Red Hood and Robin progress, their distinctive gameplay skills will evolve, along with a growing arsenal of weaponry and gear. Revealed in the Gameplay Walkthrough video, Gotham Knights features storylines for players to investigate, including face-offs against some of the most infamous DC Super-Villains, such as Mr. Freeze, who is set on engulfing Gotham City in ice.
