Knights of Pen & Paper +1 Edition Announced

Paradox Interactive announced today that they will be bringing the mobile meta-RPG Knights of Pen & Paper to the PC in a new version of the game called Knights of Pen & Paper +1 Edition, which will include new features, improvements, and content. Knights of Pen & Paper +1 Edition will be available in Q2 2013.

Sony Adds to its Indie Developer Portfolio

Sony Computer Entertainment America today introduced several titles from its growing independent developer portfolio for all PlayStation platforms, including the newly announced PlayStation 4.

The games unveiled today for PS4 include Zombie Studios’ Blacklight: Retribution and Primal Carnage: Genesis from Lukewarm Media. These games will join Jonathan Blow’s exploration-puzzler, The Witness, as self-published titles making their console debut on the PS4. In addition to supporting Blacklight: Retribution, the PlayStation Pub Fund, which provides back-end financial and marketing support to developers, adds fighting game Divekick and infographic adventure Metrico, which is a PlayStation Vita exclusive.

Independent Games Festival Award Winner and randomly-generated cave explorer Spelunky will be available on the PS3 and PS Vita with new exclusive features, and for the first time, puzzle platformer Limbo will make its way to handheld platforms with its debut on the PS Vita later this year. Additional independent titles coming to PlayStation Network this year include Pub Fund titles Sportsfriends, Guacamelee! and Dragon Fantasy Book Two, as well as additional titles Ibb & Obb, Hotline Miami, Luftrausers, Velocity Ultra, Thomas Was Alone and Zombie Tycoon 2: Brainhov’s Revenge.

Halo 4 – PAX East Panel Video

At PAX East this weekend, 343 Industries hosted a panel called “Halo 4 Multiplayer: Past, Present, and Future,” where fans received a sneak peek at what’s on the horizon for Halo 4 Infinity multiplayer. 343 announced a new 1-50 level ranking system called “Competitive Skill Rank”, which measures your performance in War Games, matcheing you against opponents of comparable skill, and displays your rank on your Halo Waypoint player profile.

Additionally, 343 showcased a live demo of “Forge Island,” a new play space that will give Forge creators both the acreage and new building assets to craft a range of multiplayer maps for the Halo community – available for free on Xbox Live on April 11th.

343 also unveiled some of the new improvements coming to Infinity multiplayer in the next Halo 4 title update, discussed the new maps and game types players can look forward to in the Castle Map Pack (which launches on April 8thalongside CSR), and shared some of the highlights and stats the community has achieved in War Games since launch.

Call of Duty Championship Qualifiers Update

Set to take place April 5-7 in Hollywood, CA, the Call of Duty Championship, presented by Xbox tournament is fast approaching, and 32 Call of Duty: Black Ops II multiplayer teams from around the world have qualified to secure their spot. In addition to the eight teams that qualified via Call of Duty: Black Ops II’s, in-game League Play Season 3, the 24 remaining teams from six continents around the world have qualified through online tournaments and/or major LAN events, including Major League Gaming’s Winter Championship in Dallas, TX, Electronic Sports League’s Call of Duty: Black Ops II European Championship in Cologne, Germany, and the Australian Cyber League’s tournament in Sydney.

Marvel Heroes Launching June 4th

Gazillion Entertainment announced today that its free-to-play MMO action RPG Marvel Heroes will launch for the PC on June 4th. Players who have purchased Founders Packs as part of the Marvel Heroes Founders Program will receive early access to the game up to seven days early, beginning on May 28th.

The Marvel Heroes Founders Program lets players purchase limited-edition digital Founders Packs for access to their favorite heroes, unique costumes, early game access, and in-game currency that can be used to buy in-game items at launch. The Marvel Heroes Founders Program is available until June 3rd at 11:59pm PDT with Starter, Premium and Ultimate Packs for purchase. Purchasers of both Premium and Ultimate Packs now receive access to the Marvel Heroes Closed Beta.

Rise of the Hutt Cartel to Launch in April

BioWare and LucasArts today announced that the first digital expansion for Star Wars: The Old Republic, Rise of the Hutt Cartel, will release on April 14th. Players who pre-ordered by January 7th will receive 5 days of early access beginning April 9th. Rise of the Hutt Cartel allows players to continue their own personal Star Wars saga in an all new, fully-voiced adventure taking place on the new planet of Makeb. Players for both the Republic and Empire will find themselves fending off the nefarious Hutt Cartel, whose growing power threatens the future of the galaxy.

Rise of the Hutt Cartel is available for pre-order now and subscribers can purchase the digital expansion for $9.99, 50% off the regular price.
