Sony Computer Entertainment today announced a new slimmer, lighter PlayStation Vita Wi-Fi model will be available this Spring. The system will be available in black as part of the Borderlands 2 Limited Edition PlayStation Vita Bundle, which includes Borderlands 2 with six DLC packs and an 8GB PS Vita memory card, all for $199.99.
The new PS Vita model comes with a redesigned architecture that is approximately 20 percent slimmer and 15 percent lighter than the original version, with new rounded edges. Incorporating a 1GB internal memory card, the new model makes it possible to enjoy games without purchasing a separate PS Vita memory card. The battery life has also been extended to four- to six-hours of game play (from three- to five-hours in the current model) and approximately seven hours of video play (from five hours in the current model). In addition, a high-definition liquid crystal display (LCD) has been adopted for the new system.
Aksys Games announces today that BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma, the upcoming 2D fighting game, will also be released for the PlayStation Vita this summer. Featuring all playable characters from the PlayStation 3 version, BlazBlue: Chrono Phantasma for the PS Vita will also include an additional story, an enhanced Abyss Mode and more. Players will also be able to purchase the two DLC characters Kokonoe and Terumi and unlock the character Kagura Mutsuki.
Namco Bandai has released a new trailer for Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution, available 2014 for the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The new trailer highlights the new four-Ninja melee battles that players will be able to compete in against three CPU opponents in the all-new Ninja World Tournament mode. These battles are won by collecting Battle Orbs gained by attacking opponents. The character with the most Battle Orbs at the end of the match wins.
Ubisoft and Sony Pictures Entertainment today announced that the studios are partnering to develop a full-length feature film based on the Rabbids, the characters from the TV series and videogames. The project will be overseen at Ubisoft by Ubisoft Motion Pictures and the group will actively participate in the film’s production.

A week after a mysterious crate was discovered deep in the Canadian wilderness, information about its contents are finally being released. Examined in a secure facility near Whistler, BC, television personality Ajay Fry and Donkey Kong himself have revealed what the crate contained – an ice block full of bananas!
The discovered bananas are part of Nintendo of Canada’s national contest to have Canadians guess the number of bananas frozen inside the massive block of ice. Prizes include a grand prize of a four-day adventure trip for four to Whistler Blackcomb and a Wii U Donkey Kong Prize Pack that includes a Wii U Deluxe Set, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze game, Wii Remote Plus controller, and Nunchuk controller (retail value: $9,740). Five runners-up will also win a Wii U Donkey Kong Prize Pack that includes a Wii U Deluxe Set, Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze game, Wii Remote Plus controller, and Nunchuk controller (retail value: $410).
The contest opened February 7th and runs until February 20th. Potential winners will be contacted on February 21st, when Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze is released. Donkey Kong fans can take a closer look with a 360-degree view of the ice block on Nintendo of Canada’s Facebook page, where they can also enter the contest.

Team17 today unveiled plans to release their first PlayStation 4 and Xbox One title, Worms Battlegrounds. The game will be one of the first title to be self-published on the Xbox One under the ID@Xbox program. Worms Battlegrounds is due for a 2014 release.
Square Enix has released a new Valentine’s Day-themed trailer for its upcoming remastered compilation, Final Fantasy X/X-2 HD Remaster.
In addition to the trailer, Square Enix also announced its pre-order incentive for the PlayStation Vita version of the game. Fans who pre-order the title on the handheld system will receive three limited edition illustrated art cards.
Disney Interactive today released five new Disney Infinity “Winter Sports Challenge” Toy Boxes to coincide with the start of the 2014 Winter Olympics. The new Toy Boxes allow players to enjoy their own versions of the winter games, which were created by members of the Disney Infinity community. Fans used the Frozen power discs to transform their Toy Box environments into snowy terrains, ideal for bobsledding, ice skating, snowboarding, ice hockey and more. The winning submissions are now available to download on Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii U.
