October 2014 Video Game Sales Results

The NPD Group has released its report for the month of October. While software sales were down 28% year-over-year in October, hardware sales were up 59%. Overall, total industry sales were down less than 1% to $790.7 million. Once again PlayStation 4 was the best selling platform, followed by Xbox One. After the first year, these consoles have had cumulative sales over 70% higher than the combined first year totals of Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3. The top selling games of October were as follows:

4. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel
5. Destiny
6. Skylanders Trap Team
7. FIFA 15
8. Madden NFL 15

Warlords of Draenor, the fifth expansion to Blizzard Entertainment’s MMORPG, World of Warcraft, is now live.

Tales from the Borderlands – Welcome Back to Pandora (Again) Trailer

Telltale Games would like to welcome you back to Pandora (again) with the very first look at Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Games Series in motion.

In addition, Telltale Games revealed final casting details for Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Games Series. The season will feature Troy Baker as Rhys, Laura Bailey as Fiona, Chris Hardwick as Vaughn, Erin Yvette as Sasha, Patrick Warburton as Vasquez, and Dameon Clarke as Handsome Jack. Additional casting details from the season are yet to be announced.

Kalimba Coming to Xbox One on December 17th

Danish development studio Press Play today announced that their upcoming platforming game will be named Kalimba, and is scheduled for digital release on Xbox One on December 17th for $9.99.

Initially showcased under the codename ‘Project Totem’, Kalimba is a playful yet challenging platformer with single-player and couch co-op modes. Players control animated totems on a quest to overthrow an evil shaman, and reclaim the island of Kalimba for the Kalimbi people who live there.

Battleline: Steel Warfare Enters Closed Beta

Bandai Namco today announced the first beta for their upcoming free-to-play title, Battleline: Steel Warfare for PC. The game has built a following in Korea since 2012 under the title Blitz 2: Battle Line. Battleline: Steel Warfare now brings its strategic and tactical elements of tank warfare to users in North America. In the first beta, players will have a first look at the range of classic and modern tanks, and experience real-time strategy combat as they advance the battleline and take down enemy tanks.

Evolve – Introducing Cabat, Leader of the Hunters

2K and Turtle Rock Studios have released full details, as well as an all-new gameplay video about Cabot, the leader of the Hunters and the third support character in Evolve.

Only one man could lead the desperate attempt to rescue the last of the remaining colonists from Shear: William Cabot. Long retired from planet taming, Cabot agreed to help and, with his robot partner Bucket, assembled the greatest team of Hunters in history. WWE 2K15 – Controls Trailer

In a new video released today, WWE 2K15 Executive Producer Mark Little highlights the newest controls and in-game features exclusive to next-gen consoles. Little begins by highlighting the Health, Stamina and Momentum meters, which as a system, create the most realistic depiction of a WWE match, complete with an authentic build of momentum to signature and finishing moves. He also discusses the new Chain Wrestling System, which is designed to bring increased realism, pacing and flow to the game. Mark details how chain wrestling begins by grabbing your opponent, transitioning to a lock and racing to achieve the upper hand in order to break into grappling or strikes.

WWE 2K15 is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on November 18th.
