Paradox Interactive has released a new trailer for Magicka 2, the forthcoming Wizard-filled spell-slinging game for PC and PlayStation 4. Sit in on a very special interview with absolutely not a vampire, as the series’ famous guide Vlad – sorry, “Brad” – opens up and shares his inner demons with the world.
Paradox has also launched a contest for Magicka fans, allowing them the chance to name an NPC inside Magicka 2. To enter the contest, players can sign up and invite their friends to join the Magicka 2 community, and also unlock in-game rewards by playing a new Magicka mini-game. New mini-games will be added as the contest goes on, starting with this week’s title, Imprecise Wizard.
The 15th annual Game Developers Choice Awards has revealed the recipients of the 2015 Ambassador Award and Pioneer Award.
Brenda Romero will receive the Ambassador Award, which honors those that help video games “advance to a better place” through advocacy or action. The Pioneer Award honors breakthrough tech and game design milestones, and will be presented to David Braben, the co-creator of 3D space exploration title Elite. The awards will be presented during the Game Developers Choice Awards ceremony, which will take place alongside the Independent Games Festival Awards on Wednesday, March 4th at 6:30pm at San Francisco’s Moscone Convention Center during the 2015 Game Developers Conference.
2K and Gearbox Software announced today that the third add-on pack for Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, the Lady Hammerlock Pack, is available starting today via digital download across all available platforms. This is the third of four add-on packs included in the Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel Season Pass, and is also sold individually for $9.99. Lady Aurelia Hammerlock is a new playable character and comes equipped with a sniper rifle, an all-new action skill – Cold as Ice – and three new skill trees including the ability to turn a co-op teammate into her servant.
Double Fine today announced that Grim Fandango Remastered is now available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation Vita and PC on PSN, Steam, GOG and Humble for $14.99.
BioWare is releasing 10 Skyhold tavern songs heard in Dragon Age: Inquisition, which will be available to download for free for a limited time. As an added bonus, BioWare is releasing the sheet music for each track so fans can record their own renditions of these songs, and are encouraged to submit them to the Dragon Age Fan Celebration Contest. Free access of the content will be available until February 9th, where the songs will then be made available for sale on digital platforms.

Techland has released the launch trailer for Dying Light. The first-person survival horror game will be available tomorrow, January 27th, on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
Electronic Arts today released the official Madden NFL 15 Super Bowl Prediction pitting the New England Patriots vs. the Seattle Seahawks. The prediction calls for a tightly-contested game between the two teams, coming down to a heroic play in the final drive to seal the win. The prediction sees New England’s offense overcoming the Seahawks’ defense to pull out a 28-24 victory.

At PAX South, Gearbox Software offered a glimpse of Homeworld Remastered Collection, the HD remastering of the strategy series. The Texas-based developer also announced that the game will be released for PC on February 25th with pre-orders open now on Steam for $29.74, a 15% pre-order discount from the regular price of $34.99.
Homeworld Remastered Collection updates and introduces the space strategy games to modern audiences. The collection includes Homeworld and Homeworld 2, remastered by Gearbox in cooperation with members of the original development team and members of the series’ fan community. As a free bonus, this collection also includes the original versions of Homeworld and Homeworld 2 with compatibility updates, preserving the purest form of the original releases.
Gamers who purchase Homeworld Remastered Collection will also receive access to the Homeworld Remastered Steam Multiplayer Beta, which kicks off alongside Homeworld Remastered Collection on February 25th. Competitive multiplayer modes for Homeworld and Homeworld 2 have been joined to offer players access to races, maps and game modes from both games in one integrated multiplayer experience. This beta combines code from over 15 years ago with newly-written changes, and will be shaped by fan feedback as development progresses.
In addition to re-releasing Homeworld and Homeworld 2 in both Classic and Remastered form, Gearbox Software has paired with Blackbird Interactive – a studio founded by Homeworld veterans Rob Cunningham and Aaron Kambeitz – to create an all-new entry in the Homeworld series for PC. Titled “Homeworld Shipbreakers,” the upcoming strategy game takes place before the events of the first Homeworld and serves as a prequel to the series.
