Ubisoft today announced the Nosulus Rift, a unique experience exclusively compatible with the South Park: The Fractured But Whole video game. This device, only available during conventions and not for sale, takes virtual reality to a whole new level by allowing players to enjoy South Park: The Fractured But Whole in the most immersive way possible. A new perception through a sense that has never been tickled in gaming before, the sense of smell. To smell what exactly? Farts, obviously.
As in South Park: The Stick Of Truth, farts will be again the most powerful weapon players will be able to handle in its direct sequel, South Park: The Fractured But Whole. Through uniquely-produced technology, the Nosulus Rift odor virtual reality mask will deliver the right smell each time the player makes use of his nefarious powers.
The Nosulus Rift is developed by Productman, the Buzzman entity dedicated to the creation of products or services, with the assistance of various experts, including the famous French perfume specialist Isabelle Ferrand. The fully functional mask makes use of sensors activated through inaudible soundwaves from the in-game fart sound to trigger the odor’s puff. Each time the sensors are activated, a smell will be released meticulously and without mercy.
The Nosulus Rift will be world premiered at Gamescom, from August 17th to 21st. Fans can come visit Ubisoft’s booth for a chance to experience it. The Nosulus Rift will also be available in a selection of events worldwide prior to the game’s launch, including PAX West in Seattle, WA from September 2nd to 5th.
South Park: The Fractured But Whole will be available on December 6th as a digital download and at retailers on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.

Koei Tecmo today revealed new information on the contents of the samurai action RPG Nioh’s second downloadable demo exclusively for the PlayStation 4. The Beta Demo will be available via the PlayStation Store from August 23rd until September 6th, after which time the demo will be disabled. Players will have a second—and final—chance to obtain the special, to-be-revealed Mark of the Conqueror DLC, as well as a chance at the all-new Mark of the Strong DLC.
Following the Alpha Demo in April, the Nioh Beta Demo will incorporate a number of gameplay changes made with fans in mind, which will be immediately noticeable upon their return to the village of Usuki. This first stage of the demo will offer new challenges and the opportunity to once again fight for the mysterious Mark of the Conqueror DLC. Warriors who conquered Usuki and procured the DLC during the Alpha Demo won’t be left wanting, however, as they will receive a set of weapons and more starting money. These champions will also have the opportunity to play through the new Nakatsu stage without having to clear Usuki again.
The new Nakatsu stage leads protagonist William along a treacherous mountain path to a deep cave, where he must prevail against human and supernatural enemies alike—including the seductive Hinoenma, a dangerous Yokai under the guise of a beautiful woman. Defeating the Nakatsu stage will award players with the Mark of the Strong DLC, which will be available when the game launches.
