Best November Ever for Video Game Hardware Sales

The NPD Group has released its report for the month of November. While software sales were down 24% year over year, hardware sales were up 58% and overall retail sales were up 7% year over year.

November 2013 was the best November ever for hardware sales. The PlayStation 4 was the top selling platform of the month, Xbox One the second best and fastest selling platform of the month (101,000 units per day), while Nintendo 3DS hardware unit sales have increased 15% year-to-date through November. Sales of Wii U hardware increased by more than 340% over sales in October after the price of the console was cut in September.
