Some of the things they do would cause you to get hurt, arrested... you know the rest. Yes, that's right, Beavis and Butt-head are at it again. First there was the luggy game, then came the bug game and just last year GT Interactive revived the Beavis and Butt-head genre with ‘Bunghole in One’. Now, in 1999, GT Interactive squeezes what little there is left in the market for a game of this caliber.

Picture Quest for Glory or King's Quest with a cartoon drawn background and two annoying characters and you have yourself Beavis and Butt-head: Do U. Essentially this is an adventure game targeted at the teenagers who still can't let go of Beavis and Butt-head.

Graphics:

If you have played any of the previous Beavis and Butt-head games then the graphics come as no surprise. If you have ever seen the show you will definitely see a resemblance. In the age of 3d graphics, sketch drawn and still shot backgrounds are not very innovative nor are they considered great eye candy. The only real graphics I enjoyed was the opening animation logo by MTV.

Sound:

Speech is a must in every game nowadays: at some point in the game the gamer should hear a human voice say something. It is possible, however, to take this way too far. The annoying Beavis and Butt-head "ism's" get so annoying that I ended up turning them off. If it weren’t for the decent soundtrack I would have completely shut off my stereo. The game, like the TV show, plays off of all the sexual innuendoes in our society but is this really necessary? The game does however mimic the TV show quite well, even though it’s not something worth mimicking. The original creator of the show, giving it the nostalgic sound of the old TV show, did all of the speech.

Gameplay:

Beavis and Butthead: Do U is your basic adventure game: walk around, point, click, and solve. The puzzles in this game are fairly simple allowing even a novice to complete it relatively quickly. This is definitely not a title to pick up for either its intellectual value or its playability. The game offered no innovative controls, unless of course you count the ability to interact (if you could call it that) with the characters from the show. The repetitiveness of the dialogue did not help the gaming experience either.

Fun Factor:

I had more fun playing my old copy of Quest For Glory. I had an extremely difficult time trying to find positives about B&B: Do U’s value as a game. It offered little in the plot department giving me more "huh,-huh-huh-huh" than I needed and not enough real talking or real gameplay. This game was obviously created for those who were addicted to the television show. I did, on the other hand, thoroughly enjoy closing the game.

Overall Impression:

Unless you’re one of those people who just can't get Beavis and Butt-head out of your head, then by all means pick this game up. However, I do recommend reading some other reviews and picking up one of a plethora of other games instead. If you’re one of those people who never liked the show then this is a game to further enhance your hatred to these two annoying individuals. Old graphics, bad puzzles and total lack of a good plot make this game a dust collector on the shelves of America's computer stores.
