Super Yum Yum places you in the shoes of Leon the Chameleon as you tackle your way through 36 levels of puzzles. As Leon, you have to methodically eat and remove pieces of fruit from the map. The chameleon part is important because you’ll take on colors of the fruits you consume and since you can only consume the color that your chameleon skin is matching, it involves a nominal amount of tactics and planning.

In this sense, it’s not much different than popular titles such as Bejeweled except you’re in control of moving Leon around. Some levels are impossible to complete with Leon alone. So you’ll have to free some baby chameleons to help you tackle the entire game map. The levels are divided into thematic worlds; Jungle, Beach, Pond and Space. Each world also features some mini games and if you are able to consume all fruit and liberate all the chameleon babies, you can unlock an alternate ending.

In terms of gameplay, Super Yum Yum 2 fits mobile gaming like a shoe by letting you play with only one hand. The graphics themselves are bright and vibrant. This is all the more important since for most of the game you have to pay attention to the colors. The backgrounds are pretty interesting and seem to evoke a whimsical backdrop. On the audio side, I found the default volume is pretty loud but if you do manage to get the music on, the soundtrack matches the aforementioned whimsy.

Overall, Super Yum Yum 2 is a classic color driven puzzle game. There is a good amount of tutorials spread throughout the game to help those new to the franchise so you don’t have to play the first one to enjoy this game. I can foresee with the cutesy graphics that a good amount of female gamers might be interested in this. It’s a pleasant way to pass the time and certainly more innovative than playing yet another Bejeweled or Tetris clone on your cell phone.
