Trend Micro’s PC-cillin Internet Security suite offers the usual antivirus, anti-spyware, anti-spam and firewall protection. We installed PC-cillin Internet Security on VMware workstations using Windows XP. The suite works with the latest Windows XP SP2 and replaces the Windows Firewall system. We deliberately ran infected files and traversed shady Internet sites that we get from spam all with PC-cillin protecting us from doing any irrevocable harm to the system.

In addition, the suite deploys parental and content controls to help parents block illicit content from their children. Some handy features for power users and gamers include a unified dashboard to detail what level of protection you have (using easy to understand red, green symbols). Anti-phishing support is provided to prevent malicious websites from capturing sensitive information from you. For gamers, who always worry about a performance hit when anti-virus and other protection technologies are on, PC-cillin logged the least performance decrease out of the box and is much better than many of its competitors.
