GO First Impression: Vampire The Masquerade (c) Activision - Jove
  • Vampire is a much anticipated "action RPG" from Activision based on the popular White Wolf pen and paper RPG game. Does the title live up to the hype? Found out our first impressions on the title while awaiting our full review. Here's a little blurb from our first impression:

"The RPG genre is never flooded with titles, sort of like the 3D shooter once was. Maybe it is because it is harder to make an RPG, so "budget" titles are less frequent. Either way, Vampire: The Masquerade fails to break the trend, and comes across as quite a nice game "

Be sure to check out the rest of our Vampire the Masquerade first impression including a few screenshots. Enjoy!

GO Review: Vietnam Black Ops (c) ValuSoft - Jimmy Clydesdale
  • LithTech engine, budget publisher, and a $20 price tag. Not exactly what you're looking for when you're searching for a great first person shooter. Vietnam Black Ops does offer a few moments of glory, but is it enough to overcome the scars of battle? Here's a little blurb from our review:

"Speaking of guns, I might as well note what you'll be getting. Nothing real interesting here, but since it's supposed to be relatively realistic the guns are fitting. You will have in your arsenal a knife, an AK-47, a M-16, M-60, grenade launcher, rocket laucher, and a sniper rifle. I do have to say that the machine guns are somewhat hard to tell the difference in action, though the M-60 does cut down enemies a tad bit faster. I didn't really see a big difference between weapons except in a big fight. One on one, no gun is really any better than another."

Be sure to check out the rest of our Vietnam Black Ops review including a trench full of screenshots. Enjoy!

GO Review: Ground Control (c) Sierra - Jove
  • Real Time Strategy games usually follow the same old formula of base contruction, resource gathering and attack. Ground Control throws away the building and resource phases of RTS and focuses soley on the combat. Will this fully 3D title deliver something special, or will it fall into the realms of mediocrity? Find out in our review Here's an excerpt from the review:

"In Ground Control you don't resource gather anything, no gold, no wood, no stone, no Tiberium, no crystals, no nothing. You also don't build anything, neither buildings nor units, and there's no research or construction tree. The game revolves around moving squads of mixed units in combat to accomplish some mission goal - its appeal is clearly focused on those who like the smiting angle so if you are in the mood for battle, there is a great deal to like in Ground Control. "

  • Speakers, speakers, speakers. Are your rackety old speakers from the 80's starting to drive you nuts? Don't have much money to spend? Maybe Logitech's Soundman X2 speaker system is just for you! Find out in our review. Here's an excerpt:

"The Logitech Soundman X1 preceded the Soundman X2 and was an excellent buy, delivering the highest quality of sound. The Logitech Soundman X2 is aimed at the lower-end market, so hi-fi level ground shuddering bass and superb highs shouldn?t be expected. Rather, the speakers are for those who take their gaming moderately seriously and don't want to rob a bank just to be able to afford a decent sounding system. "

There are several reports of a new species of Drudge and Banderling, and, even more deadly, huge skeleton creatures that are attacking with deadly cunning and force.

To celebrate this month's world-altering event and accommodate the game's burgeoning population, Microsoft has also added a new world to Asheron's Call. Called "Solclaim," the world possesses the same landscape, dungeons, monsters, and quests as the other worlds; however, no existing characters can enter. In "Solclaim," players will have the opportunity to perform their first heroic deeds, build the first allegiances, and win the first legendary magic items. Prepare to start a new saga, among equals, in a pristine land.
