GO Review: NFS Porsche Unleashed
- Jimmy Clydesdale
Electronic Arts' popular Need for Speed series continues with Porsche Unleashed, a wild ride that surely won't disappoint
driving fans alike. Here's a little blurb from our review:
"So which cars does the game have? "Over 80 models," claims EA. Perhaps - but only if you consider the Porsche
911 Turbo 3.0 to be drastically different from the Porsche 811 Turbo 3.3, and if you consider a half-dozen Carreras
to be all uniquely different (even though they're made in the same year). No flames in regards of handling styles,
engine power and differences in car stereos, please - after all, this isn't a sim, no matter how EA might want to
try to convince you of it. Of course, it obviously has the expected 911s, 911 Carreras, 911 Carrera 4s, 911 Turbos
and the like; it has the horrible Boxster in two models, the 1997 and the 2000; it has the 356, 356A, 356B; the
914 and the 944, to name a few. Notable is the 1978 935/78 "Moby Dick" and the 911GT1 - those are two really,
really nice, and really, really fast cars. They also handle like Carmageddon cars with the Gravity from Jupiter
power-up."

Crimson Order is a strategic action game where the human race has been subjugated by an alien race called the Tan'Kahr. Players take on the role of

the leader is pumping an alien full of lead, another team member could be blowing up a secured door or other similar structures. The game will also

GO Review: Army Men Air Tactics
- Jimmy Clydesdale
Army Men: Air Tactics is the fourth title in 3DO's Army Men series. Isn't it about time we put these little plastic men
back into the toy box before somebody gets hurt? Here's a little blurb from our review:
"Missions are objective oriented, usually involving search and destroy, search and rescue, and other miscellaneous
tasks such as repairing or destroying certain structures and escorting supplies through dangerous terrain. This
brings us to the downfall of the series up to this point. While the environments are detailed and entertaining, the
mission design is completely uninteresting. With all the possibilities that lay out there with this concept, missions
are nothing more than blowing every baddie in sight. Most missions also require a little puzzle solving, many of
which are extremely tedious and time wasting. I found myself on several occasions searching for that one elusive
object that needs to be manipulated in order to advance further in the mission."

GO Review: Hoyle Crosswords
- Jimmy Clydesdale
Everybody's favorite paper and pencil word game has made it's way to the PC as Sierra continues it's Hoyle series with
Hoyle Crosswords. Here's a little blurb from our review:
"Visually, Hoyle Crosswords is very un-spectacular. It looks like any previous Hoyle title with its cartoon players,
but in this instance I don't see the need to select a character to portray when all you're doing is filling out a
crossword puzzle. The background and overall presentation is rather bland. Hasbro Interactive has always done a
fantastic job bringing life to the most mundane of word and board games, a task Sierra needs to improve upon.
This is supposed to be an interactive take on crossword puzzles, but it comes across as plain as a crossword
puzzle in a newspaper. Character animations and speech just don't add enough flavour to the mix."

Animorphs Announced
- Jimmy Clydesdale
GT Interactive
and Scholastic Entertainment have joined forces to bring the Animorphs to the PC with Animorphs: Know The Secret. Based on Scholastic?s best-selling series of K.A. Applegate novels and the hit television
show, both interactive adventures enable people to become Animorphs save the world from--what else?--an alien evil. Gamers are endowed with
the ability to transform the Animorphs into the animals they touch to help thwart diabolical plans of world domination while eluding
Human-Controllers and other aliens along the way. Both titles are expected to ship this August.
Each game has unique and distinctive features that aim to capture the essence of the Applegate novels, GT said in a press release, including
mysterious stories and a never-before-seen proprietary technology that morphs each of the on-screen teenage heroines into various animals.
Animorphs: Shattered Reality for the PlayStation finds the Animorphs caught in a time warp. The mission is to gather the shards of the Time
Matrix Crystal and restore the timeline to normal so the Animorphs can return home. Animorphs: Know The Secret for the PC requires more a
strategic approach as users try to discover why controller activities seemed to have slowed down over the past month. Animorphs: Know The
Secret also features a special journal that logs the adventure as it unfolds.
